Letting Go

My wife did such a great job planning our trip to Thailand. She set it up so we could celebrate Loy Krathong and Yee Peng lantern festival in Chiang Mai. The streets were packed and with hundreds of people releasing these lanterns. It was truly a beautiful festival to be a part of.

The act of releasing the lanterns symbolize's letting go of all ills and misfortunes in the previous year. When Stephanie and I released our lantern it was a very spiritual moment for me. I grew up in a Christian home and basically had the same thing with praying for sins to be forgiving. This is the language I was given as a child so it's still how I see everything in my life. To me, words aren't enough a lot of the time. Adding this physical aspect of letting ills, misfortunes, and sins go was quite refreshing. Not only did I feel them leave my hand but I saw how beautiful it was letting them go. I especially enjoyed this moment of our trip and I would certainly recommend it to anyone thinking of doing it.

Do you need to let go of anything from this last year? If you want to try something similar, you can write your ill's down on a piece of paper. Then throw that piece of paper in a fireplace or burn it some other way. When you attach a physical action with a spiritual practice it could make a bigger impact in your life.

If you end up doing this go ahead give me smiley face in the comments below!
